7th International Conference Geoparks
This year the Geopark international conference will be hosted by the English Riviera Geopark, located in Torquay, in southern England. The event will take place between 27 and 30 September 2016. The issues to be addressed will cover the geology to experts and laymen, eco-adventures, culture, arts on wildlife and geoparks in general. This conference takes place every year and has the largest proposed the exchange of knowledge, experiences among Geoparks which participated in previous editions, as well as those just joining the Global Network of Geoparks.
In addition, the conference seeks new partnerships between the Geoparks, whether scientific, tourist, educational nature, the important thing will always be a mutual exchange of experiences and knowledge.
During the Conference this year, the Geopark Araripe should receive the results of the assessment made by UNESCO in August last year. The expectation is that the Brazilian Geopark receive the green seal, keeping in the world geoparks group that are chacelados by this UN body.

It took place on January 28, 2016, at the headquarters of the "Institute Flower Pequi" located in Crato- CE, the first Extraordinary Meeting of the Salt River Basin Committee, with about 40 people. The Araripe Geopark as committee member, plays and help develop proposals on issues related to environmental preservation around the tributaries of the Salt River.
Therefore, the only Brazilian Geopark attended the meeting, represented by the Executive Director, Mr. Francisco Idalécio de Freitas. In this, the topics covered were: Water grant; level of reservoirs in the basin of the Salt River; flow of the sources of the sedimentary basin of Araripe; water supply for irrigation and human consumption. The committee who chaired the meeting is responsible for the management and distribution of water for the population of the reservoirs in the basin of the Salt River (dams), which have agricultural irrigation activities and so on.

The Pilgrimage of Candlemas this year is the first after the reinstatement of Father Cicero to the Catholic Church.
