Seminar Cauldron of Santa Cruz Desert: Debate on Management Model as a Proposal For The Future
The Cauldron of Santa Cruz Desert, located in the countryside of the Crato city for the first time became the center of discussions during the course of the first seminar aiming with the proposal to work there for a geosite project for the future. The seminar was organized by the Dean of Extension of Regional University of Cariri (URCA) in partnership with the Crato Culture Secretariat and brought together researchers, students, historians, filmmakers and many experts who seek to develop a joint work by the rescue of memory Cauldron.
The event was opened on the night of April 12, in the Hall of Acts of URCA, with teacher lectures Dr. Artur Sá, representative of the University of Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro-UTAD in Portugal and UNESCO. He talked about "the importance of an integrated development in the UNESCO of world geoparks statement". He also emphasized in his speech, after looking at the Cauldron site, the historical importance of space as a place with the ability to become one of the geosites of further evidence of South America.
Professor Doctor of URCA, Domingos Sávio, addressed in his lecture the "Worldviews the libertarian fights of the Cauldron." He is one of the leading researchers in the area and stressed the importance of the work by filmmaker and researcher Rosemberg Cariry, who developed the film and book about the Cauldron. He was at the event opening table and talked about the direction of a new way of working, from that time, and was willing to join and assist in new project ideas involving the Cauldron.

The composer and poet Luciom Caieira launched during the opening, a comic book about the Cauldron of the Holy Cross of the Desert, which was distributed to participants. It was also held presentation Band Cabaçal of Aniceto Brothers, with execution of the hymns of Crato and Ceará.

The "Ciclotur in Geopark Araripe" arrives at the 2nd edition this year. Tourism on two wheels is the first script for the mountain bike bikes Cariri / Ceará Region.
In this edition, the route will pass through six cities in the region, including Crato, Nova Olinda, Santana do Cariri, Barbalha, Old Mission and Juazeiro. These municipalities where they are located the geosites Araripe Geopark and its peculiarities and was drawn in order to escape the asphalt roads, prioritizing thus the most beautiful and peaceful trails and back roads. All distances, reliefs, historical and cultural attractions were designed so that the cicloturista get the most out of their stay in Cariri. The route was scheduled to 4 steps of pedaling, with the script contemplating many attractions of the region, such as lookouts, waterfalls, museums, farms, sugar mills, the geosites Araripe Geopark and of course a beautiful crossing the Araripe National Forest .
The organization and realization is of the Crato Ecobikers Group, in the person of Ernesto Rocha, and has the support of various government and institutional bodies in the region covering the script Ciclotur, among them the Araripe Geopark.
New Logo Geopark Araripe / UNESCO
Since the end of last year, all Geoparks Global Network (Global Geoparks Network - GGN) were included to the UNESCO. Since then, the brand that represented the Network of Geoparks have changed that symbolize this new reality.
Thus, the Geopark Araripe, following the guidelines of UNESCO Visual Communication Sector presents the fusion of its new logo, which will represent the "brand" Araripe UNESCO Global Geopark this moment on.
Exposition on Theme "The Pulses in the Context of Geopark Araripe"
This year the Geopark Araripe promote an exhibition with the theme "Pulses in the context of Araripe Geopark." This will be the 11th thematic exhibition that traditionally takes place in the period of the greatest Agricultural Fair Cariri Region, the EXPOCRATO.
All sectors are involved in the preparations for the assembly of this event. The exhibition will feature pulses the region, from the decoration to nutritional information related to health, food security and culture. It will be aimed at the target audience of EXPOCRATO involving laypeople from the subject to experts in agronomy, livestock, academia and others.
The exhibition is planned to start around the second week of July in the Interpretation and Environmental Education Center (CIEA), located inside the Exhibition Park Pedro Felicio, in the municipality of Crato / CE.
