Began last week, disclosure of the II School Contest GEA Mother Earth.
This work, done by the responsible Industry, Maria Neuma Clemente Galvão and trainees of the Environmental Education Sector has happened in 38 public schools in the municipalities of the territory of the Geopark Araripe.
The School Competition GEA - Mother Earth proposes this year, school activities related to the theme "SOILS THAT SUSTAINS LIFE".
This theme gives the share of Geopark Araripe the "International Year of Soils", declared by the United Nations and disseminated by UNESCO. And the main goal is to draw attention to human practices that lead to soil degradation.
Can participate in the contest, students of Elementary & Secondary Education of municipal and state schools in the Araripe Geopark territory.

During the 4th. Symposium Edition "Global Geoparks Network: Asia-Pacific", held 16-20 September in San'in Kaingan Geopark (Japan), 9 more geoparks in the world joined the Global Geoparks Network (GGN).
The Geoparks Global Network are in territories to promote its geo-diversity in the communities that comprise it, with a view to sustainable development.Until this year, the GGN consisted of 111 Geoparks distributed in 33 countries.
And from that Symposium, countries that had their proposals accepted were: China (Geoparks Dunhuang and Zhijindong Cave), Cyprus (Troodos), Greece (Sitia), Iceland (Reykjanes), Indonesia (Gunung Sewu), Italy (Pollino) Japan (Mount Apoi), Spain (Lanzarote and Chinijo Islands).

The Geopark Seridó Proposal was born of a partnership between the Geological Survey of Brazil (CPRM-SGB) and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), within the Geopark Project Brazil CPRM, on April 19, 2010.
This partnership made it possible to carry out different actions, especially (a) Inventory 25 geosites with results posted on the site CPRM and the Book "Geoparks Brazil: proposals", launching in 2012; (b) Projects such as (i) Technical Study and Diagnostic Creation Geopark Seridó, RN State; (ii) Geological Heritage of Seridó Region (RN, NE Brazil): inventory and integration of geosites to support the proposal to create Geopark; (iii) Equity in Natural Environment Education in municipalities Geopark Seridó (Seridó Region, RN); (iv) Seridó Itineraries: tourism potential analysis Potiguar Seridó and (v) Development of the Tourism Development Plan of the municipality of Currais Novos and (c) Dissertation Preparation: (i) Geopark Seridó, RN: Tourist values and management and (ii) Tourist Practice Geosites: an environmental assessment on the project Geopark Seridó-RN.
During this period partnership with SEBRAE / RN allowed the publication of the Tourist Guide Seridó Region and the IPHAN / RN ensure the preservation of the archaeological heritage in geosites with execution accessibility works to visitors in addition to the publication of the book "Geodiversity in Art rock on Seridó Potiguar "with description of geodiversity elements in geosites.
Currently, municipalities entered the territory of the Geopark Seridó Project (Cerro Cora, Lagoa Nova, Currais Novos, Acari, Carnauba dos Dantas and Parelhas) are effectively contributing to the growth of the proposal, with different actions, including physical order (with assignment space to provide information, in the case of Currais Novos) and the State Government, through the State Department of Tourism (SETUR / RN), the Tourism Promotion Company of the RN (Emprotur) and State Attorney General (PGE / RN), who are promoting a broad discussion about the project recently with the holding of a workshop to address the issue with different actors (municipalities, managers, third sector and others).
They are also contributing to advice about legal issues for the implementation of the Project. It is expected that next year (2016) is working the dossier for submission to the Global Geoparks Network (GGN). Meanwhile conservation action, education and tourism are being carried out by different stakeholders within an organization of proper management for the territory of Seridó Geopark Project.
