On the last day 09, the Geopark Araripe Communications Team talked to two students who were champions in the I School Competition GEA Earth Mother, which took place last year. Giovana Maria Perreira and Erica de Sá with the teacher Adriana Garcia, School Mary Alacoque Bezerra de Figueiredo, in the municipality of Barbalha, talked about participating in the Contest of experience in its 1st. The school where the students enrolled in the high school was also winner in the category "Mock" in the First Edition of the competition, which was about the "Desertification".
The students stressed how learned from the activities proposed by the tender and that through this they could understand more about conservation and environmental preservation. Professor Adriana used the voting method for choosing the model that would come to the Contest. She also stressed that students have changed a lot after this event, "students' views before entering the Geopark project was one, but after they participated, researched and developed work and there was disclosure, their performance improved within the school. And the city in partnership with schools has developed sustainability projects for some time and has great importance for it.
These include projects on devices that had in Barbalha; about garbage; Salamanca on the river that is in serious condition from pollution and erosion in its slope; there was also activities about the springs that are diminishing every day more; and, on the Soldier Araripe, which is in danger of extinction.The Technical Mari Celene showed its will and commitment to make Barbalha conquer this important stamp. On October 31 Saturday, PhD in Geosciences from UFPE, Renam Alfredo Machado Bantim, accompanied the TV news crew Verdes Mares Cariri, affiliated to Globo TV, the geosites Pedra Cariri and Stone Bridge showing the geological aspects, historical and value of geosites for their respective municipalities.
To talk about the geological aspects of geosite Pedra Cariri, the developer of Geopark Araripe, Rafael Celestino also composed the team.
The purpose of the report in both geosites was to demonstrate the types of fossils found in the Sedimentary Basin of Araripe, its importance to the Territory and point out the need for conservation of the paleontological material by the surrounding geosites communities, combating trafficking attempts and sales fossils. The Park Pterosaurs is a geosite of scientific and historical value, suitable for the practice of geotourism and even scientific tourism. This site is located in the Canabrava, owned by the Regional University of Cariri / URCA, at 2,5km of Santana do Cariri, being a major component of Araripe Geopark and geosites highlighted in the report of CETV (Ceará TV - Branch Network TV Globo).
