XX HOLIDAY CAMP ARARIPE GEOPARK

With school holidays, Araripe Geopark promotes from February 5th to 7th the 20th edition of the "Araripe Geopark Holiday Camp" - which will have a special schedule, with lots of of fun and different activities, aimed at animating the small students from 6 years to 13 year olds. Entries are open until February 5, 2019 and must be made in person at Araripe Geopark headquarters. The amount charged is R$ 15.00 for students of public schools, R$ 20.00 for children of employees of Regional University of Cariri (URCA) and R$ 25.00 for students of private schools. ARARIPE GEOPARK/URCA HELD 1st INTERNATIONAL MEETING

Araripe GeoPark and Regional University of Cariri (URCA) will held on 24-28 February 2019, the 1st International Meeting - Araripe Geopark entitled "URCA Summer University Course". The event is associated with the International Summer Course of University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD) in Portugal. Its objective is to discuss themes such as innovation, development and sustainability, utilization of mineral resources of Araripe Plateau and healthy lifestyles through Geoparks.It will bring important international authorities such as Emmaline Monserrat, doctoral student for UNESCO Chair in Geoparks program at Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro University (UTAD) in Portugal and César Alejandro Goso Aguilar, one of the founders of Geopark Grutas del Palacio, PhD in Geosciences and professor at Universidad de la República - Montevideo, among other professionals.The event will start at 8am and will be composed of workshops, round tables, field visits (trils) and panels. The event brings the opportunity to exchange knowledge and increase the awareness of society about the value of UNESCO Global Geoparks.Registration for the Summer Course will be from January 1st to February 18th, however, there is a 50% discount on the registration fee for all enrollees until February 2nd. ARARIPE GEOPARK RACING CIRCUIT 2019 - MISSÃO VELHA STAGE

 

The next stage of the Cariri Extremo Race Circuit will come, an event that will be held on 23 and 24 February 2019, in the city of Missão Velha, in Sítio Barreiras, in partnership with Cariri Extremo Sports Company. This stage is titled MTB 12 hours, in which the athletes will be able to participate in solo, double, quartet and sextet categories.The challenge of this stage is increasing. The distances for trail run athletes are 5 km, 10 km and 21 km. For Mountain Bike athletes is 17 km. Follow the news in our instagram @geoparkararipe and @caririextremo. ARARIPE GEOPARK/URCA AND SANTANA DO CARIRI PREFECTURE ENTER INTO PARTNERSHIP

Araripe Geopark (GA) and Regional University of Cariri (URCA) have signed a partnership agreement with the Municipality of Santana do Cariri for the development of actions in the area of ​​Environmental Education and tourism in the city. The solemnity took place on January 18 at Plácido Cidade Nuvens Paleontology Museum, in Santana do Cariri.Participating in the ceremony were the Rector of URCA, Professor Jose Patrício Melo, the Mayor of Santana do Cariri, Pedro Henrique Lopes, as well as the director of Plácido City Nuvens Paleontology Museum, Sérgio Vilaça, and the director of Araripe Geopark, Nivaldo Soares, among other authorities and guests.With two years, the term aims to act effectively in favor of actions that favor tourism, culture and sustainability, as well as environmental education. The Rector highlighted the effort that has been undertaken by URCA to provide the strengthening of tourism in Santana do Cariri, which recently created a thematic square in the city, drawing the attention of the Region.

Santana do Cariri receives Araripe Geopark in community project

The articulation of Geopark in the community project happened in Pontal de Santa Cruz in Santana do Cariri, on January 29. Based on the action the Municipal School José Gomes Brazil, located in the community. It has 6 workshops and the participation of twenty-four residents of Pontal, including school teachers, children, mothers and Environment Secretary Vicente Paulo. The script made during the morning and early afternoon by Geopark promoted workshops for adults, focusing on the mothers of the community, with ten participants. The workshops were: production of soap with cooking oil, skin cleansing with clay and natural oil, manufacture of repellent from local plants, and a conversation about the use of popular knowledge of medicinal plants to prevent diseases. For the fourteen children present at the school, there were workshops on painting bottles, painting the Araripe Manakin on hand, replicas of fossils and popular games. There was also a moment of conversation and reflection with the young people about what is Araripe Geopark and the issue of preservation/conservation of Pontal de Santa Cruz geosite. Geopark in the community will continue to develop actions with workshops in Santana do Cariri and the next one is scheduled for March 20, and will be open to public.
