IT HAS BEEN GIVEN A STAR THE PREPARATION FOR THE PARTICIPATION OF ARARIPE GEOPARK IN THE 2017th EXPOCRATO
A meeting was held on March 20th between the Araripe GeoPark and the Pro-rectory of Extension of URCA to begin preparations for the 2017th Expocrato that will occurs at the Interpretation and Environmental Education Center at Pedro Felício Cavalcante Exhibition Park in July.

The theme of this year's exhibition, as traditionally has happened, will follow UNESCO's recommendation, which will be about Sustainable Tourism.

The Araripe Geopark participates of the 1st Edition of "Science in the Square". The event took place on March 10 at Praça do Ferreira in Fortaleza-Ceará, and was promoted by the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Higher Education of the Government of the State of Ceará.
The event is part of the government's program "Popularization of Science" and according to SECITECE's Executive Secretary, Nágyla Drumond, "It aims to reduce the gap between science and the people."
Planned to have a quarterly periodicity the event already begins with an audience above expectations and had stands, besides the Araripe GeoPark, for UECE, SEASA and Professionals Schools.
The participation of the Araripe GeoPark involved an exhibition on the territory and its natural, environmental, historical and cultural riches and also the realization of the Painting workshops of the Soldier of the Araripe and argil in the beauty.

The biology course of the decentralized unit of the Regional University of Cariri located in Missão Velha held the 3rd Biology Week between March 27th and 31st and the theme chosen was the Araripe GeoPark, due to the institution's 10 years of existence, celebrated last September, and about the future projects.

During the week, GeoPark Araripe was present, with workshops, short-courses and lectures. The event was organized by the students of the biology course and featured statements by the Pro-Rector of Research and Postgraduate and Professor of URCA, PhD. Allysson Pinheiro and Weber Girão from Aquasis.

From March 19th to 24th, the Environmental Secretariat of the municipality of Crato arrange the Week of the Water and Tree and the Araripe GeoPark was present.

The opening of the event was held in the auditorium of the Headquarters of GeoPark and had a lecture of the GeoPark's Geotourism and Territorial Development sector coordinator, Prof. Eduardo Guimarães and a round table with Professors Idalécio de Freitas and Nivaldo Soares, both from Geopark, and the Secretary of the Environment Brito Júnior.
The event took place throughout the week and had interventions in various parts of the city such as the screening of documentaries in Largo of RFFSA, workshops in municipal schools and theatrical presentations in the city's communities.

The 30th anniversary of the Regional University of Cariri (URCA) was celebrated last Tuesday, with a solemn feast on the campus of Pimenta in Crato, with the presence of the Acting Dean of the Institution Francisco do Ó de Lima Jr, The Secretary of Science, Technology and Higher Education of the State (SECITECE), Inácio Arruda, further on the Mayor of Crato, José Ailton Brasil, Professors, Students, Pro-rectors and founders of the university. At the occasion, the exhibition was held, "URCA, 30 years of settlement", with the presentation of URCA´s Dean of Extension, Arlene Pessoa, the exhibition seeks to show the growth and advances experienced by the institution in recent years, in addition to the Regional aspects in the development process, including the regions of Cariri and Center-South of Ceará.

On the occasion, one of the founders of the University, Professor Lireida Noronha, highlighted what led to the creation of URCA, the need for higher education courses in the region, such as the College of Philosophy, the Padre Ibiapina Foundation and the courses of Economy and Low, an initiative of the Municipal Government, later incorporated into URCA. "All this effervescence and educational convergence in the city attracted young people from the surrounding cities," she says.
The URCA began its operations in the first semester of 1987, with four courses, and nowadays there are 28 courses, of the approximately 2 thousand students of that time, today it has approximately 11 thousand students, coming from an educational region composed by more than one hundred municipalities, located in the states of Ceará, Pernambuco, Piauí, Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte. With only one campus at its beginning, currently URCA counts on 09 Campi and the Museum of
Paleontology in Santana do Cariri, besides the Araripe Geopark, the first one of South America. In this way, assuming in the last years a scientific maturity, when approving several master’s and doctor’s programs in partnership with UFPB and UFRPE,. They are courses whose result is reflected on the increasing numbers of scientific publications and approved projects with the most important development agencies of the State and Brazil.
