URCA HAS RECEIVED SBPC REGIONAL CONFERENCE OF 2017

From May 2nd until May 6th of 2017, the Regional University of Cariri - URCA has received the Regional Conference of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of the Science (SBPC).

​

The SBPC organizes annual regional and national conferences, in association with higher education institutions and other development agents of research and science. This year, URCA hosted the event that had as its theme: "Territory, Biodiversity, Culture, Science and Development". The conference was composed of a scientific program with round tables, conferences, courses and poster presentation, a cultural program with theatrical presentations and local bands and SBPC Jovem, with exhibition of Colleges and Universities of the region in addition to exhibitions of handmade products made by local artists.

 

One difference of this conference is the mobilization of the local scientific community culminated on the1st Meeting of Institutions and Higher Education of Cariri and Center-South Cearenses, which occurred simultaneously with the SBPC Regional Conference and represented an association between more than five Universities for the event.

GEOPARK ARARIPE PARTICIPATES IN THE SBPC REGIONAL CONFERENCE

GeoPark Araripe was present at the SBPC Regional Conference that occurred at URCA.

 

GeoPark's participation in the event included the course "GeoPark Araripe: Knowing the Only Geopark-UNESCO of Brazil" lectured by the Executive Director, Prof. PhD. Marcelo Martins Moura Fé, where the participant learned about the operation of the institution under the trinomial Geoconservation, Geodiversity and Geoculture, besides knowing about the projects on going in the territory.

GeoPark Araripe was also present with a permanent exhibition, presenting of the tourism partners, over the thematic year of tourism and sustainable development of UNESCO and had an active participation in SBPC Jovem with a exhibition on the territory and realization of the workshops of painting of the bird Araripe Manakin, Clay in the Beauty and Confection of Fossil Replicas.

PRESIDENT OF THE SBPC RATES POSITIVELY THE REGIONAL CONFERENCE

The President of the Brazilian Society One for the Progress of Science, Professor PhD. Helena Nader actively participated of the SBPC Regional Conference that held at URCA.

In a interview granted to Geopark Araripe the Professor rates successful the Conference that held at URCA. She emphasized the pioneering of the University on promoting in a scientific programming, besides the round tables and conferences, a scientific presentation of posters and also the pre-established partnership with other Institutions of Higher Education of the Region for a concomitant meeting 1st Conference of Institutions and Higher Education of Cariri And Center-South of Ceará.

 

In addition to the event, she still highlighted a wealth of natural beauties of the region that she had the opportunity to know and of the importance of scientific research made within the territory.

PARTICIPANTS OF THE REGIONAL CONFERENCE OF SBPC VISIT THE TERRITORY OF GEOPARK ARARIPE

On the last day of the SBPC Regional Conference, May 6th, tour routes were offered under the following themes: Water Route: an organized itinerary aimed at the knowledge of the trajectory of the water in Cariri, passing through the Geosites of Missão Velha and Riacho do Meio in Barbalha; Cultural History: a visit to the Moil of Rapadura one of the great producers of candy derived from sugar cane; Script of the Faith: visit to the Centro Cultural Mestre Noza, the Geology of Horto Hill and the Padre Cícero Memorial, religious sights that tell the life story of Padre Cícero Romão Batista.

​

The Ecological and Cultural Route: visit to the Batateiras Geosite and the Fundão site to visit the first two-floors taipa’s house in Brazil, built in the 50's and also the Cultural and Paleontological: a roadmap thought of regional paleontological diversity, passing through the Geosite Ponte de Pedra and Pedra Cariri, among others, which present scientific values ​​due to the occurrence of diverse and abundant fossils, such as insects, pterosaurs, fish and vegetables.
