Araripe GeoPark and URCA discussed together with the Department of Environment and Territorial Development of the municipality of Crato, deputy Antônio Balhmann and the surrounding population about the revitalization of the Nascente Balneary, on 03/17 (Saturday), during the 1st Nascente Waters Seminar.
The idea is to expand the balneary, create a theme park, build a museum, restore restaurants and also build a parking lot for buses.
This is the first stage of discussions around the theme. According to the Crato City Hall, there will be other moments to discuss and listen to the population to finalize the project.

A meeting in favor of significant changes aimed at one of Cariri's major heritages. The "Lira Nordestina Seminar: Diagnostics and Updates", held last March 22, brought together scholars to discuss alternatives for preservation and maintenance of Lira Nordestina Graphic.
The Lira is a cultural equipment linked to the Pró-rectory of Extension of URCA and is a national reference of chap book and woodcut. The Graphic made possible the circulation and popularization of literature leaflets mainly in the Northeast and in Brazil.
The Seminar was aimed at establishing a partnership between the University and the City Hall for the development of actions in Lira Nordestina, which currently operates in the building of the "Vapt Vupt" Cariri Multifunctional Centerand is under municipal management.

Batateiras Geosite, located in the Araripe Plateau, in Sítio Fundão State Park, Integral Protection Conservation Unit, in the municipality of Crato-CE, will serve as the stage for a Collective Expedition composed of children, youth and adults from various areas of the territory of the Araripe UNESCO World Geopark.
The event, alluding to the Latin American and Caribbean Geotourism Day, March 31, 2018, aims to bring representatives of the various segments of the regional society to an immersion in an environment that uniquely exposes the geological profile of the compound batateiras formation of sandstone with a clayey clay of dark color (shale).
The sequence of sedimentary rocks records the moment when the region was characterized by a fluvial / lacustrine environment, where the rivers flowed forming eventual occurrences of flood plains (clay levels), under a warm and semi-arid climate, approximately 115 million years ago ( Cretaceous Period).

The activities took place in two days with the participation of institutions in partnership for the promotion of the action. It was an activity carried out by APA Chapada do Araripe, in partnership with AQUASIS, FLONA, GeoPark Araripe, URCA and Crato City Hall.
It was a citizen research activity in search of data to increase knowledge of the occurrence areas of the bird species 'crypturellus noctivagus', known as Zabelê, a bird that is threatened with extinction.

The Cariri Criativo Fair, partner of GeoPark Araripe, took in the month of March many novelties. And the Araripe GeoPark stand promoted two GeoPark coperators. Bonequeiras do Pé de Manga, which consists of a group working under a large mango tree in Crato-CE, where the group started their art in 2002 and employs more than 10 women who produce several dolls in various sizes, shapes and colors .
On the other hand, the handicraft Pedra Sobre Pedra is extracted from laminated limestone, in which a family from Nova Olinda-CE uses it as a source of income, reusing the stones in the making and sculpting different Cariri figures in different shapes and objects.
