EXPOCRATO PLANNING MEETING OCCURS IN GEOPARK ARARIPE

On May 22, a meeting was held at the GeoPark Araripe between the Institution coordinators, teachers and Heads of URCA Department to make decisions and give the referrals to the GeoPark Araripe Stand at Expocrato this year.

At the meeting, structural reforms were decided at the Center for Interpretation and Environmental Education (CIEA), about workshops and activities to be held on the days of the event and the partners that will exhibit in the stand, defining the responsible and future referrals.

 

Other topic was the realization of the II Photography Contest, last year occurs a concomitant to the event and the winners were chosen by the votes of the visitor's public of the venue.

GEOPARK ARARIPE RECEIVES COMMITTEE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE DO NORTE STATE

The GeoPark Araripe hosted on May 9 acommittee of professors and students who came to visit the territory.

The Professor Cicero Milton Moreira da Silva told us that the itinerary of the delegation would last three days and it would include visits to the geosites to better understand the cultural, historical and geological aspects of the Araripe GeoPark. In the town of Juazeiro do Norte they visited the Horto of Padre Cícero and the Center of the town. The group also visited important tourist attractions in the towns Crato and Nova Olinda.

GEOPARK ARARIPE PARTICIPATED OF THE MUSEUM WEEK AT THE MUSEUM OF PALEONTOLOGIA DE SANTANA DO CARIRI

The 15th Museum Week occurs between May 16 and 19 in the Museum of Paleontology in the town of Santana do Cariri and were attended by the Araripe Geopark.

At the opening the Rector of the Regional University of Cariri - URCA, Prof. Patricio Melo gave us a short speech, the curator of the Museum, Prof. Álamo Saraiva and the Museum's Executive Director, Prof. Sérgio Vilaça talked about expectations for the reformulation of the Museum, seeking more visibility and an approximation of the community. GeoPark Araripe stayed for the closing night with a speech by the executive secretary of the institution on the importance of GeoPark for the region and some data on local development over the years.

In addition to the lectures the program included cultural presentations by regional artists.

GEOPARK ARARIPE GOT TOGETHER WITH FIBRARTE ASSOCIATION

On May 18, the Araripe GeoPark met with artisans of the Fribrada Association from Missão Velha town.

​

An accounting association with two stores in the Missão Velha town and approximately fifteen craftsmen working with the most diverse types of materials has as main the art produced from the banana leaf fiber. In addition to their own stores, a Fibrart still participates in major exhibitions in the region such as Exprof and Expocrato.

 

That first meeting indicates a closer approximation of the Araripe GeoPark with Fibrart and emphasizes the importance of formalizing more partnerships with the territory between an Institution and producers of geoproducts.

GEOPARK ARARIPE PARTICIPATED OF THE FAIR "FORTALEZA BRASIL STONE - 2017"

The fair Fortaleza Brasil Pedra is international fair ornamental rocks that occur annually in the state of Ceará with the purpose of publicizing Brazil as an exporter and generate a large number of businesses.

​

This year, the third edition, the fair receive the stand of the Ceará Government State, which brings as a theme the Cariri Limestone (Cariri Stone). In the stand were present businessmen from the extraction branch of Cariri Stone, craftsmen and design students of the Federal University of Cariri, with gems minted in cariri stone. The paleontological and geographical aspects were due to the Araripe GeoPark. Our participation involved a fossil exhibitor from the Crato and Romualdo formations and a dissemination of the GeoPark Araripe Geosites to tourists.
