' UNITED NATIONS AND UNESCO WORLD GEOPARKS  IN LATIN AMERICA 2030 SCHEDULE'

Araripe Geopark (AG) received the researcher Emmalline Rosado from 02 to 15 May, who is developing her PhD project at Utad University in Portugal. The research carried out by her has Geoparks as theme, with line of research in territorial regional development and healthy lifestyle.

The researcher held a series of lectures in the six municipalities that make up the territory of the AG on the situation of geoparks in Latin America. She presented the UNESCO 2030 Schedule proposal to the student community, artisans, local leaders and municipal representatives, and addressed the mishaps and challenges faced by current and new geoparks proposals.

​

Emmalina presented how the territories developed with the work of geoparks and how they aid in the spread of microentrepreneurs, artisans, popular artists, and the firmament and propagation of tradition and popular culture. At the end of each lecture, the researcher applied a questionnaire to evaluate the work developed by the GA in the areas of territorial development and healthy lifestyle.

About the stay in the territory, Emmaline stressed that she felt welcomed by the staff and the people of the place. She also said that she complied with the proposal she proposed when she was carrying out the necessary data for her research.

16th NATIONAL WEEK OF MUSEUMS

With the proposal to promote a cultural season, the 16th National Museum Week was held in Santana do Cariri and in Juazeiro do Norte, with the theme "Hyper-connected Museums: new approaches, new audiences", on May 15-19.

In this sense, the Araripe Geopark (AG) and Plácido Cidade Nuvens Paleontology Museum, in partnership with the José Marrocos Research Institute and the Padre Cícero Memorial Foundation, offered a wide range of programming for the Cariri region in order to promote the integration among the various museums in the region, thinking about new technologies of communication and interactivity, and the search for traditional and analogical possibilities of interconnection.

For the event, the museum's junior guides participated in an Oratory Workshop, conducted by the Master Coach and collaborator of the AG, Chico Júnior. During the days of the event, the public can go through the AG's geosites, participate in small community encounters and incursions into the fields of paleontology and museology.

 

There were also lectures, workshops and video presentations. Another highlight and novelty of the event was the exhibition 'Giants of Cariri: a flight by Paleoart by local artist Francisco dos Santos, exhibited at Plácido Cidade Nuvens Paleontology Museum in Santana do Cariri. The event was held nationwide with the participation of several museums, promoted by the Brazilian Institute of Museums (IBRAM).

XII GEOMORPHOLOGY NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM  - SINAGEO

XII SINAGEO DRIVES THE CARIRI REGION

The XII National Symposium on Geomorphology - SINAGEO, conducted by the coordination of the Geography course of URCA in partnership with Araripe GeoPark , drove the Cariri region through May 27 to 30. The event had a diverse schedule of activities geared towards the discussion of geomorphology.

​

The event brought together more than 500 researchers, teachers and students from Brazil and Portugal, who sought to understand the reliefs and their processes, from a theoretical point of view and also applied, enabling discussions and exchanges of knowledge, in order to promote and disseminate research on the dynamics between the morphological elements of the terrestrial relief and its relations with the social agents that occupy and reorganize it.

Cariri SINAGEO took the participants to get to know the Araripe GeoPark Geosites in fields designed to contemplate the Water and Paleontological Road Map, with a view to presenting the local geomorphological heritage as well as disseminating the culture and promoting regional tourism.

PRE-EVENT XII SINAGEO

Professor at the University of Minho (UMINHO), Portugal, Dr. José Brilha, who was in the territory of Araripe GeoPark to participate in the XII SINAGEO, discussed with researchers and students the practical aspect of Geodiversity of actions from Geoconservation, Geomorphology and delimitation of responsibility.

​

The moment happened in the auditorium of  Geopark and had the participation of more than 80 participants on Saturday (26/05) amongst students and teachers of diverse regions of the country.

 

In addition to Professor Brilha, Professor José Teixeira Guerra of UFRJ and his wife, Professor Maria do Carmo Oliveira of UFRJ, and the Executive Director of AG, Nivaldo Soares, mediated by Professor Wendson Dantas de Araújo from UERN.

The table highlighted the importance of the implementation of accessibility in geosites, the identification of its riches and how the community around it can benefit and be an agent of its conservation, education and geotourism.

​

XII Sinageo is an accomplishment of the Department of Geography of URCA with the support of Araripe GeoPark, held from May 24 to 30 at the Convention Center of Cariri with the theme "Landscape and Geodiversity: the valorization of the Brazilian geomorphological heritage, with more of 500 entries.

II NATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON HERITAGE AND CULTURAL PRACTICES

The School of Knowledge, in Barbalha, hosts the II National Symposium on Cultural Heritage and Practices with the theme "Territories, Cultures and Contemporaneities" on June 5-9.

 

The event is an accomplishment by URCA/Araripe Geopark , Barbalha School of Knowledge (ESBA), National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN) and the Josafá Magalhães Barbalha Pro-Memory Center,  with the objective of making use of studies on the interactivity of life with the places of living of the masters of culture and players, in the perspective of the historical construction of cultural practices and the spatial symbology that demarcate their territories.

​

The event seeks to collaborate with debates on the creation of documents that contribute to the elaboration of public policies aimed at the sustainable regional development.

 

In the program, there are several roundtables with discussions about local cultural elements, such as the Juazeiro do Norte Pilgrimages, Chap-book,  Caretas from Jardim, Crato Exhibition, among others.

​

The program also includes a stand of the Araripe GeoPark that presents the project and offers some workshops and actions for the participants.
