The Rector of URCA, prof. Patricio Melo, became part of the Board of Geoparks World of UNESCO, from that year.
The Council was created in 2015, during the 38th General Conference of UNESCO, where a new project was launched, the International Geoscience Programme and Geoparks (PIGG), with the mission to establish a new international status for the Global Geoparks Network (Global Geopark Network - GGN).
Professor Patricio, who was Superintendent of Araripe Geopark 2010 to 2015, during which he worked strongly in promoting the work and importance of the institution for the preservation of the rich heritage geological, will act as advisor in assisting in evaluations of new nominations by the Member States and reevaluating existing geoparks.
FAIR CARIRI CREATIVE OPEN CALL TO SELECT NEW EXHIBITORS
The Fair Cariri creative was created in November 2014, at the initiative of the Federal University of Cariri - UFCA with Fomento Extension Program Creative Economy Cariri. The fair takes place monthly in Largo RFFSA, but also has its itinerant character the city of Crato, through Square Siqueira Campos and receiving invitations to events.
Besides the exhibition of handmade products, there is a cultural program with music and artistic interventions during the Fair.
In this month of August is open tender for the selection of new exhibitors. The announcement released has ten vacancies and receive applications until the 22th of August.

On Wednesday, August 03 the Araripe GeoPark received the Association of Middle Creek Residents, community located near the namesake geosite located in Barbalha.
On the agenda was discussed greater institutional closeness and GeoPark and the Association and were also given some referrals of some projects proposed by GeoPark and the local community. Also at the meeting discussed the need to strengthen the partnership with the Municipality of Barbalha.

In the days 05 and 06 August trainees of Araripe GeoPark participated in a technical visit to geosites that are open will visit the GeoPark area.
The visit took place under the guidance of Prof. Marcelo Moura-Fé, who is Executive Director of GeoPark, Lazarus Raniere, Executive Secretary of GeoPark and Rafael Celestino, Geoconservation Coordinator and the Comunication Coordinator, Pedrina França.
On Friday (05/08) were visited the geosite Hill Garden (Juazeiro), the Interpretation and Environmental Education Center of Missão Velha, the geosites Waterfall Missão Velha and Riacho do Meio (in Barbalha); and on Saturday (06/08) the visit was held in geosites Stone Bridge and Cariri Stone and Casa Grande Foundation in Nova Olinda; in geosites Park Pterosaurs and Pontal de Santa Cruz, as well Paleontology Urca Museum and Interpretation and Environmental Education Center, all in Santana do Cariri.
