GeoPark Araripe was present at the twelfth edition of RuralTur- Rural Tourism Fair, which happened for the first time in Ceará, in Juazeiro do Norte City, on October 5th, 6th and 7th. The fair brought together entrepreneurs, exhibitors and artisans from northeastern brasilian states such as Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Alagoas, Maranhão, Pernambuco and Sergipe, as well as the participation of entrepreneurs from cities located at the north of the State as Fortaleza and Tianguá, Litoral Leste and Cariri. RuralTur aimed to leverage tourism in rural areas, generating income for production associated with tourism, and during the fair, members of the GeoPark Araripe held an exhibition on the nine geosites, and the Executive Director of GeoPark Araripe, Dr. Marcelo Moura, participated in a conference where he talked about Araripe Geopark and sustainable tourism.
GEOPARK ARARIPE IS THEME OF EXPOSURE IN THE RESISTANCE ARTE BAR
GeoPark Araripe was the subject of an exhibition on culture, tourism, history and scientific and environmental value. It was a collective exhibition of Ricardo Alves, Natalia Inglith and Thiago Gabriel members of the student body of the Technical Course of National and South American Tourism Guide, promoted by SENAC, Crato.
The exhibition made a cut of the multiplicity, diversity and uniqueness of each Geosite belonging to the Araripe Geopark Territory, which includes the most varied forms of social, historical, cultural, tourist, geological and paleontological manifestation. In the form of photographs, the work that is part of this collective exhibition, aims to direct a guided and sensitive look at the geosites that make up the First Geopark of the Americas and Southern Hemisphere, daring to size such greatness in 30x20 photographs.

The roundtable was held on Wednesday (September 21) at the Araripe GeoPark headquarters in the evening, and was composed by Ana Isabel Cortez, professor of the URCA History course, Rosemberg Cariri, filmmaker, screenwriter, documentary filmmaker, producer, Poet and writer from Ceará and with Rubia Micleline, coordinator of the culture sector of GeoPark Araripe. At the table they had talks about the riches of Cariri, focusing on the regional legends surrounding the geosites and on how regional culture is being used to foster sustainable regional tourism.

The round table was held on Wednesday (September 21) at the Araripe GeoPark headquarters in the morning, with Iarley Brito (SAEC) and Elidiane Viera (SISAR) and mediated by Nivaldo Soares Coordinator of Geoconservation from GeoPark Araripe. In the region of Cariri, in the interior of Ceará, several water sources are born in the Chapada do Araripe, the management of water resources in Brazil is a dynamic and new process. The country has sought ways to manage these resources since the late 1970s. There is a need to exercise effective environmental control over local economic activities, with a view to highlighting management in order to detect and monitor impacting actions. This implies the need for institutional strengthening and training of human resources, as well as aspects related to environmental education and interinstitutional articulation, for better water conservation in Cariri.

The round table was held on Wednesday (21) September at the Araripe GeoPark headquarters in the morning, the table was composed by Júnior Feitosa from ABRASEL – Brasilian Association of Bars and restaurants, Ernesto Rocha from Trilhar and Ceará businessman Demétrio Jereissati, also owner of the VerdeGreen hotel in João Pessoa, Paraíba, already known as a sustainable hotel, one of the proposals of the IU-Á hotel is sustainability. Tourism becomes something of a vocation for this region of diversified attractions. E There is no denying that tourist activity is enriching and economically necessary for it. However, it must be practiced with awareness and discernment, both by tourism development agents and by tourists and populations who enjoy the space. Only in this way can we glimpse the possibility that future generations will enjoy all the natural and artificial beauties available today, guarantee the maintenance of our exhaustible natural resources, as well as the existence of tourist activity in the future.

The Trainee of the Communication Sector of Geopark Araripe and a student of the Geography course, Bruna Almeida de Oliveira, won the "Outstanding Award" for work presented at the IV SEMEX - Extension Week, from URCA. The award included the Communication and Culture category entitled "STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION: THE MEDIA AND ITS ROLE IN THE DISSEMINATION OF GEOPARK ARARIPE", the objective of the work of the award-winning intern is to divulge the work that is developed by the extension project linked to GeoPark communication Araripe, the work was guided by the teacher and former coordinator of the communication sector of GeoPark Araripe, Giane Taeko Mori Rodella. For its performance, quality, development of its work evaluated and well explained in its presentation, led to the reception of better work in the Communication and Culture Hub of the IV Semex Extension Week of the Regional University of Cariri. The event was held from November 08 to 12, 2016, and the awards ceremony took place on the last day of the presentation, in the hall of acts of URCA with the presence of Pro-Reitora de Extensão, the Rector and Vice Rector of the Regional University of Cariri .
